In the heart of Tanzania, nestled near the capital of Dodoma, lies the picturesque village of Chikola. A decade ago, the Ley family embarked on a mission that would change lives in this humble village forever. Their journey of support and empowerment began with a young man named Lameck Elia, whose dreams and determination have inspired an entire community.
Initially, the Ley family’s support centered around paying school fees for Lameck and his family, opening doors to education that had previously been beyond reach. After completing college, they provided him with a loan to purchase agricultural land in the wine-producing region of Dodoma, allowing him to cultivate vines and create a sustainable livelihood.

But Lameck’s dreams extended beyond his own success. He envisioned a brighter future for the young children of Chikola. These children faced daunting journeys to access education, often walking miles to the nearest village school, and even having to brave a busy motorway. Concerned parents understandably preferred to keep their children home.
In the first phase of their ambitious project, two schoolrooms, a small office, and basic sanitary facilities were built, a testament to the Ley family’s unwavering commitment. Phase II is set to bring a library and two additional classrooms, ensuring access to quality education for all villagers.

Lameck’s dedication to uplifting underprivileged families and his belief in the transformative power of education have made him a remarkable partner. The Ley family admires his initiative and trusts in his ability to see this project through.

The Marie Nursery School in Chikola provides free, high-quality education to children who, due to poverty and social pressures, might otherwise miss out on schooling. The family collaborates with sponsors and donors worldwide to support these students in their educational journey.

Through Lameck’s determination and the Ley family’s unwavering support, the village is on a path to a brighter future—one where education serves as the cornerstone of a better life for its children. Together, they are changing lives, one classroom at a time.
